Free COVID-19 Treatment: Hyderabad

Caring Hands collaborated with Sri Sri Holistic Hospital in Hyderabad, India, to provide free medical treatment to COVID-19 patients during the height of the pandemic. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Sri Sri Holistic Hospital was one of the first hospitals to adapt to the pandemic, switching one of its existing facilities to a 100-bed COVID-19 facility. With the second surge of COVID-19 in India, many hospitals became overwhelmed and were unable to provide sustained care for patients. In mid-May 2020, Sri Sri Holistic Hospital opened a 50-bed COVID-19 center to provide free medical treatment for patients with mild COVID-19 symptoms and patients in recovery that only needed supplemental oxygen. As COVID-19 rates continued to worsen, Sri Sri was prompted to dedicate another 20 beds to underprivileged patients for free treatment, as these patients were the hardest hit by the pandemic. Caring Hands gave a grant of $35,000 to Sri Sri Holistic Hospital to provide free treatment to underprivileged patients in the intensive care unit, many of whom needed life-saving treatment for COVID-19 and/or severe black fungal infections.
