Light Beyond Vision
Light Beyond Vision provides educational assistance to visually impaired students from impoverished backgrounds with the goal of empowering them to be self-sufficient. The program is run at a residential school called Ranipatna Blind School for visually impaired and economically disadvantaged students grades 1-10 in Balesore, Odisha, India. In the past, each year about 10 students would graduate from this school, out of which 90% of them would discontinue their studies. To address this disparity, we decided to help provide financial assistance for Ranipatna Blind School graduates to attend college. Currently we are supporting college education for about 50 visually impaired motivated students from different parts of Odisha, India. The cost of sponsoring the education of one child is only Rs. 2500 or $34 dollars per month which covers education and sustenance. But it will make a world of difference in their lives! Many of the sponsors maintain regular contact with their sponsored child and provide encouragement and guidance. Caring Hands is now sponsoring the college education of 21 visually impaired students.
