In partnership with Friends of Kolkata’s Elderly, Caring Hands is assisting in the development of an after school educational program called “Happy Classroom” to improve basic literacy skills of students using the old age homes as educational centers. The educational program focuses on teaching students to develop their own aptitude and work diligently on filling their learning gaps in order to become self-reliant students. In addition, the program also allocates time for social activities such as working in groups, caring for senior citizens, and arts and crafts that will help them develop important life skills early on.
