Gopalwadi Tribal Girls School

Gopalwadi Tribal Girls School is a residential elementary school for 60 tribal girls located in Rayagada, Odisha, India. The school is run by Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust with the goal of educating the Adivasi (tribal) girls without displacing them from their villages and families. The school incorporates tribal culture into its curriculum and has established itself as a vehicle for positive change in the area. However, the actual facilities were poor, as the classroom was a large shed. The residential rooms for the students and staff were also cramped and unsanitary with malaria rampant. To improve conditions in the school, Caring Hands decided to construct a 8,000 square foot residential school facility for the school and fund the full cost of the project.
