In October 2016, Hurricane Matthew caused a humanitarian crisis in Haiti due to the catastrophic damage it caused. George Washing Carver Academy, a school built by our sister organization Foundation for Freedom to serve 120 Haitian children, was severely damaged. Half the roof and its associated solar panels that supplied electricity to the classrooms were broken. Caring Hands partnered with the school and reconstructed the school after seeing the damage firsthand in November 2016.
