Lunch bag service
The lunch bag service program is one of the oldest and well known programs led by Caring Hands Foundation. The program first started in 2012 when Caring Hands learned about the need for packaged meals from local homeless shelters where many occupants would come to stay overnight and go out to search for work during the day. For these people, the lunch bags we provide would be the mid-day meal. On both Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year, Caring Hands would make 150 bagged meals and delivers them to local homeless shelters in Silicon Valley. Over the years, this program has grown to include over 200 Caring Hands volunteers. The meals support several local homeless shelters including HomeFirst in Sunnyvale, CA, and LifeMoves in San Jose, CA.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, Caring Hands tailored their lunch bag service to the needs of the shelter and now provides 60 lunch bags as well as snacks to the HomeFirst shelter.
