Swarachana School
Swarachana School and Resource Centre is located in Kaintain, the heart of rural Uttar Pradesh(UP), India, a region with mostly Dalit (untouchable) villagers. The region has very few basic amenities and even fewer available public services. Established in 2007, Swarachana school is the only high school for 13 villages in Sidhauli Block. As such, Swarachana School and Resource Centre represents more than just a school; it is a space for the children and young people of Sitapur to explore who they are and where they want to go in life. The school currently has 347 students with 3200 sq ft of classroom space. To improve the school, Caring Hands provided a grant in 2013 to double the school capacity to 700 by increasing the area of the school to 10440 sq ft and improving the school infrastructure. From 2016-2019, Caring Hands provided additional grants towards a corpus fund for operating expenses of Swarachna School.
