Description

Many children become orphans in the Mfangano island community in Kenya due to the HIV/AIDS scourge. The county government has not managed to adequately address their nutritional and educational needs as a result of which the community resolved to supplement the efforts of the government. It was clear to the community that a deliberate and specific program that could address and meet the needs of the disadvantaged and vulnerable children within the community was needed, hence the establishment of St James Community Orphans school. Caring Hands Foundation is working with the school authorities to establish agriculture farm and fish pond to address the nutritional needs of the students.
